Ingredients

Pediococcus acidilactici

Pediococcus acidilactici plays a crucial role in maintaining gut health by supporting the gut lining and intestinal permeability. This probiotic helps to fortify the intestinal barrier, which prevents harmful substances and pathogens from entering the bloodstream. Its beneficial effects on the gut lining can help support improved nutrient absorption and a healthier immune system response.

Bacillus subtilis

Bacillus subtilis is a probiotic bacteria found in soil and the canine gut. B. subtilis is known for its ability to support a healthy gut microbiome, enhance digestive health and support immune function. It produces byproducts that can help suppress harmful bacteria, promote the growth of beneficial bacteria and assist with nutrient absorption. Additionally, Bacillus subtilis has been associated with digestive enzyme production, aiding in the digestion of food and the supporting against gastrointestinal disorders.

Soil-based probiotics, like Bacillus subtilis, are often considered superior to other probiotics due to their exceptional resilience and ability to survive the acidic environment of the stomach, ensuring they reach the intestines where they can be most beneficial. Their inherent stability means they don't require refrigeration and maintain potency over time and their robust nature allows for a potentially broader impact on the gut microbiome.

Bacillus coagulans

Bacillus coagulans is a soil-based probiotic that supports gut health by enhancing the balance of the intestinal microbiota, contributing to improved digestion and reducing symptoms of occasional bloating, gas, and diarrhea. It also supports the immune system by producing short-chain fatty acids, which are crucial for gut health and the natural resistance against chronic diseases.

L-glutamine

L-glutamine, an amino acid, plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the intestinal lining, thereby supporting gut health by preventing the leakage of harmful substances into the body. It serves as a primary fuel source for the cells of the intestinal lining, promoting their growth and repair, which can help with gut-related issues. Additionally, L-glutamine can support a normal inflammatory response in the gut, further supporting digestive health.

Deglycyrrhizinated licorice root (DGL)

Deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) root is a form of licorice that's widely recognized for its ability to soothe gastrointestinal problems, as it helps to support the gut lining and esophagus, assisting with the symptoms of acid reflux and indigestion. Additionally, its anti-inflammatory and demulcent properties support the natural resistance to ulcers and maintain the health of the mucous membranes lining the digestive tract.

N-acetyl glucosamine (NAG)

N-acetyl glucosamine (NAG) is a compound that plays a key role in the health of the gastrointestinal lining, supporting the integrity of the gut barrier. Beyond its benefits for gut health, NAG is also involved in the synthesis of hyaluronic acid, contributing to joint health by promoting healthy cartilage, skin and a balanced inflammatory response.

Organic marshmallow root

Marshmallow root is renowned for its mucilaginous properties, which bolster the gut lining. Its ability to promote healthy mucus secretion helps support overall gut health and aids in the integrity of the mucosal lining.

Organic aloe vera

Aloe vera is celebrated for its natural soothing properties, which can benefit the gut lining. Its gel contains polysaccharides that support the lining of the digestive tract.

Organic slippery elm

Slippery elm contains mucilage, a gel-like substance that can coat and help soothe the mucous membranes lining the digestive tract. Slippery elm can also assist nerve endings in the gastrointestinal tract to increase mucus secretion, which helps form a healthy coating in the mucous membrane.

Organic dandelion root

Dandelion root is renowned for its liver-supporting and detoxifying properties, aiding in the removal of toxins and promoting liver health. It also acts as a natural diuretic, helping to manage fluid retention and support kidney function. Rich in antioxidants, dandelion root can further contribute to a normal inflammatory response.

Organic burdock root

Burdock root supports healthy skin and is also rich in antioxidants, which neutralize harmful free radicals. Burdock root also supports liver function and digestion, thanks to its inulin content, a type of soluble fiber that supports healthy gut bacteria.

Humic acid

Humic acid is a natural component of soil and a byproduct of the decomposition of leaves and other plant material by soil-based microorganisms. Humic acid supports a healthy gut and helps detoxify from heavy metals and environmental toxins. It also supplies antioxidants and supports the immune system.

Fulvic acid

Like humic acid, fulvic acid is a part of the organic matter in soil, peat and water. Fulvic acid helps detoxify from heavy metals and environmental toxins, enhances nutrient absorption, supports healthy skin and provides antioxidants.

What should I use Gut Guard for?

Gut Guard is veterinarian formulated to support a normal, healthy gut lining and flora. Exposure to pesticides, chemicals and processed foods can all harm the gut lining, which can allow unwanted toxins to escape the gut and wreak havoc on your dog. Gut Guard will support a normal gut lining.

Can I use other probiotics, such as Protect and Bifido For Fido with Gut Guard?

Absolutely ... Four Leaf Rover's probiotic products are all beneficial in their own ways. Protect is a soil based probiotic that supports your dog from pesticides and heavy metals, while Bifido For Fido has specific, veterinarian formulated strains to help with occasional loose stools. Both have their own strengths, but can be helpful when you need them.

How long should my dog use Gut Guard for?

Gut Guard is intended to manage a normal gut lining. A “leaky” gut will often trigger the immune system and you may see the impact on your dog’s skin, organs and digestive tract. Once you see a more balanced immune response, then we recommend keeping your dog on Protect afterward.

Gut Guard should not be given for more than 60 days at a time. Alternate it with Protect until you see the results you want.
